Max Omer Ivey, 93, a resident of Chester, VA, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis M. and Eula D. Ivey; his son, Larry Wayne Ivey; brothers, Marvin, Melvin Dean and Marshall and sisters, Lorraine, Lucille and Sarah. He is survived by his loving wife of over 64 years, Dorothy H. Ivey; daughters, Lynne I. Townes (Charles) and Joan A. Ivey; grandchildren, Steven R. Ivey and Cassie E. Ivey (fiancée Alec); a sister, Thelma I. Johnson; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Ivey King (David), brother-in-law, Melvin E. Hawley, Jr; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, his “baby” dog Penny and extended family. Max was an Army Veteran serving during World War II. He was past Master of St. John’s Masonic Lodge #36; a member of American Legion Post 125; Acca Temple Shrine, Legion of Honor, Acca Golf Club and the Royal Order of Jesters #16.
