Maurice Raymond Zachman, 89, of Prince George County, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012. Born in St. Michael, MN, he was the son of the late Robert Alfred and Elanore â??Ellaâ? Duerr Zachman. In addition, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Belle Zachman and his son, Robert A. Zachman. Mr. Zachman served with the Merchant Marines during World War II and participated in the D-Day invasion. He went on to serve in the active reserves for 25 years. He retired from Fort Lee as a Senior Research Logistics Analyst. Mr. Zachman spent his retirement years enjoying the company of his loving daughters and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters, Laura Z. Butler and husband, Allen of Huntsville, AL, Denise Z. Sweda and husband, Steven of Hopewell, Debra Z. Bailey and husband, Kirk of Disputanta, and Susan Z. Sundem and husband, Michael of Petersburgâ?? grandchildren, Melanie Z. Brittingham, Jessica B. Mauger, K. Eason Bailey and Zachary A. Butler; great-grandchildren, Robert K. Brittingham, W. Avery Mauger, Jase R. Mauger and Karaline â??Rittâ? Bailey; a sister, Nona Raymond; and family friend, Margaret Light. A Memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 pm Saturday, March 17th at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends following the service.
