Maurice Wesley Belcher, Jr.

Maurice Wesley "Wes" Belcher, Jr., 62, of North Dinwiddie, VA, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Wesley "Monty" Belcher, Sr.; his brother, Steve Belcher; and special friend, Rick Mosher.

Wes loved his family and spending time with them from his childhood throughout his life. He knew no strangers and was always eager to strike up a conversation. He lived in many places during his professional career but the Gulf Coast of Florida was his favorite. He loved the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area and specifically the beaches. He was a beach bum and loved to have his flip flops on and his toes in the sand. Wes also liked to cook, share a meal with friends and family, decorate for the holidays, putter around in the garden, planting flowers in the spring and fall, and shop, oh could he shop! He also loved music and had many favorite songs and playlists on his phone. One of his favorite ballads, which he lived by, was "I Will Survive". Throughout his prolonged illness, he lived by that motto.

He is survived by his mother, Peggy Dean Belcher; a sister, Stephanie Maximini (Gary); an uncle, Larry Belcher; a special niece, Brooke Danielle Wyatt (Stephon); a nephew, Justis Maximini; great-nieces, Aniah and SaMiah Wyatt; a nephew, Ethan Belcher; sister-in-law, Marcia Belcher; a close friend of many years, Paul Watson; and numerous cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Pastor Dwayne Walker of First Assembly of God will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery.
