Mary Smith Watson

Mary Smith Watson, age 83, of Chester, Virginia, passed away on July 9, 2026. Born on October 4, 1942, in Petersburg, Virginia, she was the beloved daughter of William and Cloe Smith.

Mary was a proud graduate of Westhampton College, now known as the University of Richmond, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in 1965. She dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker. Mary was married to M. Lawrence Watson, Jr., who preceded her in death.

She was a longtime member of Chester United Methodist Church and enjoyed the companionship of her friends during regular bridge games. Mary's warm spirit and kind heart will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her son, Christopher Watson (Stephanie), and her daughter, Jennifer Kolcun (Ryan). Mary also leaves behind two treasured granddaughters, Ashley Blados (Ben) and Laura Watson; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Katherine; her sister, Liz Traylor; and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

A public visitation will be held on July 18, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in her memory.

Mary's gracious spirit and unwavering love for her family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
