VANCE, Mary Elizabeth Taddei, 95, of Chester, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. She was born on March 11, 1920, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Ralph and Mary Porcher Taddei. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Rue Vance; son, William M. Vance; sisters, Thelma Allen, Scholastica Billger, and Barbara McInaw; and, brothers, Ralph Taddei, Jr., and Eugene Taddei. She is survived by her daughter, Diana V. Paulus (Robert) of Chester; son, Thomas G. Vance (Elizabeth) of Richmond, Virginia; and grandchildren, John I. Paulus of Chester and Sergeant William V. Paulus (Karen) of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. She is also survived by her sisters, Kathleen McCollough (Brice), Marguerite Kilroy, and Caroline Andrusko (James); her brothers Francis Taddei (Marie) and Spencer Taddei, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary grew up near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but had lived in the Hopewell, Virginia, area since 1958. She was a member of St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Hopewell, where she was a dedicated volunteer for many years. She was an avid league bowler and loved to travel around the country and participate in state and local tournaments and conventions. She was the long-time Vice-President of the Greater Petersburg Women’s Bowling Association and a member of the Appomattox River United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service. The family will be receiving friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service to be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 14, 2016 at J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home 820 W. Broadway Hopewell, VA. A funeral Mass will be held, 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church 510 W. Poythress St. Hopewell, VA. Interment will follow at Appomattox Cemetery.
