Mary Elizabeth Stanley Hayes

Mary Elizabeth Stanley Hayes, 99, of Chesterfield County, VA, passed away on June 23, 2026. Born in 1926 to the late Jacob and Rosette Stanley Hayes, she is also preceded in death by her son, William Stanley Hayes, Sr.; infant daughter, Denise Lynn Hayes; and sisters, Della Stanley Woodard, Ella Stanley Nelson, Mimble Stanley Osborne, Velma Stanley Keith, Coy Elwood Stanley, Paul Eugene Stanley, Tommy Jack Stanley, and Roy Leon Stanley.

Mary is survived by her son, Dennis Hayes (Marian); sister, Jettie Stanley Blevins; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Stanley; grandchildren, Elijah Hayes, Seth Hayes, Billy Hayes, and Denise Walters; and beloved daughter-in-law, Linda Hayes.

Mary worked for Reynolds up until her retirement and then began work at Wal-Mart. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church before joining Calvary Baptist Church. Mary was strong in her faith, trusting in the Lord and reading her Bible every day. She was especially known at the church and in the community for her delicious pies and cakes.

A celebration of life for Mary will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 17001 Route 1, Colonial Heights, VA, 23834, on Saturday, July 18, beginning at 11:00a.m. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son.
