Mary Evangeline Bland

Mary Evangeline McCracken Bland, 98, of Petersburg, VA passed away on November 19, 2014. Born in Spartanburg, S.C. she was the daughter of the late Alden Howell and Frances McCravy McCracken; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Vernon Bland; one sister, Rebecca M. Edward; and a brother, Isaac McCracken. Mrs. Bland was a longtime faithful member of Second Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Leslie Marshall Bland and wife, Denise; three nieces; three nephews; and her devoted neighbors, Alice and Brandon Martin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Second Baptist Church, 3355 Johnson Rd., Petersburg, VA 23805. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Bland to Second Baptist Church.
