Maria Booth

Maria Lynne Booth, 71, of Petersburg, passed away on June 14, 2025. Maria was born in Washington, DC. She had a Master's Degree in Nursing and was a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Central State Hospital for 30 years.

She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred John Booth and Gladys Rupard Booth. She is survived by her son, Blake Montgomery (Daniele) of Dinwiddie, VA; her daughter, Mae Ann Duncan of Petersburg, VA; brothers, Gary Booth of Bernville, PA, Donald Booth of Albion, NE, John Booth (Lynn) of Gretna, VA, and Dennis Booth (Sharon) of Williamsburg, VA; and grandchildren, Layla Montgomery, Landyn Montgomery, Lynleigh Montgomery, and Layke Montgomery all of Dinwiddie, VA, as well as Collin Duncan of Petersburg, VA.

Maria was the glue that held people together. As the only girl out of five siblings, her father lovingly referred to her as "She Fox." After her parents passing, she served as the anchor that held the family together. To those outside of the family, she was that friend that was always there to listen, help or laugh.

Maria loved the beach so much that she bought a house there to host friends and family. As a parent, she was patient, supportive and understanding. As an aunt she strived to be present and supportive. As "Granny" she was fun and took an active role in the lives of her grandchildren.

Outside of family and friends, she volunteered with various organizations including her church, domestic abuse survivors, and CASA. She also taught and tutored nursing students. Maria was a strong and fiercely independent women who was a role model to many of the women in her life.
