Margaret Chandler (Peggy) Noblin

Margaret Chandler (Peggy) Noblin (formerly known as Peggy Schott and Peggy Bowles), of Chester, VA, passed peacefully on July 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Merlo Vest and William Chandler Noblin. She is survived by her children, Julian Ernest Bowles, Jr., of Great Falls, VA; Paige Bowles Saunders (Paul), of Chester, Shannon Bowles Fowler (Chris), of Chesterfield, Meghan Chandler Bowles, of Chesterfield, Mary Belle Schott, of Colonial Heights, and Willam Joseph Schott (Kati), of Colonial Heights. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Peggy grew up in Radford, Virginia and always considered it home, visiting often to spend time with her mother, and family and friends. She lived in and around Chester for 60 years and spent a remarkable 44 of those raising her six children, energized and filled with all the joys and challenges of motherhood. She was also a constant fixture in the lives of her grandchildren.

Peggy found her dream home in Chester on Richmond Street, the old Trueheart house, for which she pursued and received landmark designation. She would host legendary holiday gatherings for family and friends there, often taking the entire week of Thanksgiving to decorate for the holidays and prepare one of her memorable feasts. Her many Christmas trees were a sight to behold, beautifully trimmed with heirloom ornaments and the artwork of her children and grandchildren. She knew how to make a home.

Gardening and landscaping were among Peggy's great passions. Many of her gardens continued to flourish to this day. Other passions included music and dancing. She certainly could cut a rug.

Peggy built a career as a Chesterfield County General District Court Deputy Clerk, retiring in 2012 after 29 years. She also served as a Deacon of Chester Presbyterian Church, where she remained an active member until dementia began to take its toll. In earlier years, she was a member of the Chester Junior Women's Club, serving as President one year.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026 at Chester Presbyterian Church, 3424 W. Hundred Rd, Chester, VA, with a reception immediately after. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 1:00 p.m. A private interment will take place in Radford, Virginia, where Peggy will be buried beside her father. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank Dr. William Reed and the outstanding nursing staff on the first floor of the Parsons Health Center, for their compassionate care. They are angels.
