Lowell Wayne Singleton, 87, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rebecca Singleton; three sons, Teddy W. Singleton (Gayle), Larry L. Singleton (Shelly), and Scott D. Singleton (Sherrie); six beloved grandchildren, Jennifer G. Siberman (Andrew), Jessica A. Singleton, Tony L. Singleton (Meagan), Daniel W. Singleton (Lindsey), Chris S. Singleton (Christina), and Kyle W. Singleton; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Effie, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Effie Sr. and Daisy Bell Cato Singleton, of Mecklenburg County; and one brother, Huey Andrew H. Singleton, of Kilmarnock, VA.
Known to friends as Mickey, he was born on October 31, 1937, in Mecklenburg County, VA. After high school, Mickey worked at Capital Airline as an attendant, before moving to Richmond to work for GRTC as a bus driver. After serving one year as a driver he was promoted to supervisor for the bus company. After 10 years at GTRC, Mickey worked for Pilot Freight, Yellow Freight, and Pitt Ohio, as dispatcher before retiring in 1998.
Mickey loved the outdoors with his kids. He spent many hours with his kids and neighbor kids playing basketball on the court until dark each night. Mickey loved working with the senior class at Kingsland Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son, located at 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at a visitation for Mickey the day prior, Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
