Linda Elaine Cunningham Taylor

June 28, 1947 — November 16, 2025

Linda Elaine Cunningham Taylor, 78, passed away peacefully at her home on November 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on June 28, 1947, in Richmond, Virginia, to Mary Apperson Cunningham and Edward Moore Cunningham.

Linda is survived by her devoted husband, Lloyd Graham Taylor II, who affectionately called her "Linda Roy" for nearly 55 years of marriage. She was a proud mother to Kimberly Taylor Walker (Matthew) of Raleigh, NC, and Lloyd Graham Taylor III "Trey" of Chester, VA. She cherished her grandchildren, Edward Reid Walker and Robert Graham Walker, both of Raleigh. Linda is also survived by her sisters, Dale Lanier (Malcom) of Greensboro, NC, and Lisa Cunningham Medlin (Mark) of Raleigh, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Edward M. Cunningham, Jr.

After graduating from Douglas Freeman High School in 1966, Linda attended Stratford College in Danville, VA, before earning a degree in Psychology from Westhampton College in Richmond. She and Gray were married on December 12, 1970. Following a brief time in Hinesville, GA, they returned to Virginia and built a rich life filled with friendship and family in Chester.

A devoted member of Chester Presbyterian Church, Linda served faithfully as both deacon and elder, contributing her energy to various committees - thankfully, she steered clear of the choir, as her joyful noise was her laughter. Her commitment to service extended beyond the church, positively impacting many in the community.

Linda spent many years working at L.C. Bird High School and Atlantic Mortgage Company before joining Allied Signal/Honeywell, where she worked until her retirement in 2011. Embracing retirement with enthusiasm, she became an active and often executive member of numerous organizations, including the Chester Investment Club, Chester Garden Club, Ikebana of Richmond, The Village Women's Club, DAR Commonwealth Chapter, Highlands Bridge, Book Club, and the Magnificent Seven Lunch Group, among others.

A gifted gardener, Linda found immense joy in nurturing the yard she and Gray cultivated together. She took pride in every plant and blossom, from which she enjoyed creating beautiful, perfectly placed floral arrangements for her home and many others.

Above all, Linda was known for her warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter that could brighten any room. She had a unique ability to connect with others, drawing them in with her genuine spirit. To know her was to love her, and she brought joy and humor to every gathering, sharing her delight with everyone lucky enough to call her mom, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin or friend. She continued to spread this warmth right up until the end.

Linda's life was a testament to love, generosity, and the profound power of laughter and faith. Her spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Johnston Willis, as well as the nurses from James River Home Health and Hospice and Comfort Keepers. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of these organizations or to Chester Presbyterian Church.

A service will be held at a later date.
