Linda Carol Harris

March 30, 1949 — April 11, 2026

Linda Carol Harris, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, in Lexington, Virginia, at the age of 77. She was born March 30, 1949, in Keokuk, Iowa, to Kenneth H. and Mary Kathryn DeYong.

The eldest of five girls, Linda shared a lifelong bond with her sisters - relationships that were among her greatest treasures. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1967 and later completed her education at Virginia Commonwealth University.

In 1971, she married the love of her life, Jack Nash Harris. Together they built a beautiful life centered on family and raised their three children in Chester, Virginia.

Linda enjoyed a distinguished career as a real estate broker, serving the Chesterfield and Richmond communities for nearly forty years. She was widely respected for her professionalism, insight, and tireless dedication to the people she served.

A faithful member of Chester Presbyterian Church, Linda quietly and generously supported many charitable and community organizations. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, especially flowers, and she lovingly cared for the birds that gathered outside her home.

Above all else, Linda cherished her family. Her eight grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy, and she delighted in celebrating their lives and accomplishments. She was known for her tenacious spirit, inquisitive mind, and wise counsel, as well as her unwavering loyalty to those she loved. Linda also possessed a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to laugh and believed that good humor and laughter were among life's greatest remedies.

Linda had a special gift for making life's moments memorable. Her delicious cooking, beautifully festive holiday decorations, and famous homemade fudge were beloved traditions that brought family together year after year.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Billie Harris (1981); her mother, Mary Kathryn DeYong (1984); her father, Kenneth DeYong (2012); and her father-in-law, Maurice Harris (2014).

Linda is survived by her devoted husband of more than fifty years, Jack Nash Harris; her children, Christopher Lee Harris (Jennifer), Jason Ryan Harris (April), and Alane Kathryn Broaddus; and her beloved grandchildren, Reid Harris, Ryan Harris, Malorie Maxfield (Noah), Claire Harris, Jude Harris, Lucas Harris, Carson Harris, and Olivia Redmond. She is also survived by her sisters, Karen Sievers (Dennis), Anne Jones (Roy), Lisa O'Donnell (Steve), and Maura Roberts (Don), along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 6pm to 8pm at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 West Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23831.
Linda's life was defined by her love for her family, her generous heart, and the warmth she brought to every home and gathering. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched and the memories her family will carry forever.
