Born February 28th 1921, age 92, the Matriarch of the Stallings family passed on Thursday, May 2, 2013, in Gambrills Maryland.Born in Grand Rapids NC, her mother Sally and father John moved to Hopewell VA, which became the family seat for the decades following.
Wife of the late Larry C Rayner, Mother to her surviving son, Larry Jr., Grandmother to Lisa Roca and Lara Rayner, Great Grandmother to Nathan Charles Roca.
Lil, as she was known to all, was a graduate of Hopewell High, President of the Home Economics Club. During the war she began a career at the Allied Chemical plant, then moved into the Purchasing Office where she worked as a managing secretary for the next 35 years. After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their beach cottage in Claremont, VA.Viewing will be from 6pm to 8pm on Friday May 17, 2013, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held 11am on Saturday May 18, 2013 at the Funeral Home with interment to follow in Appomattox Cemetery.
