Lawrence Everett "Bud" Burke went to be with the Lord on November 1, 2025. Born October 9, 1936, in Lockhart, WV, he was the eldest son of the late Clifford and Ruth Davis Burke. He is preceded in death by his brother, David, his wife, Ilene, and their daughter, Cheryl.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 65 years, Margaret Rowe Burke; and his brothers, Dennis (Brenda), of Sanford, NC, and John (Cindy), of Lockhart, WV. He also leaves behind two sons, Brad (Suzanne) and Jeff (Laura) Burke; five grandchildren, Megan, Maggie (Bart Gingerich), Davis, Sean, and Sarina Burke; four great-grandchildren, Rose, Lucy, Teddy, and Heidi Gingerich; along with numerous family and friends. He was retired from Honeywell (formerly Allied Chemical Corp) after 37 years as a Maintenance Supervisor. At work, he was known as "Stony Burke."
Bud and Margaret moved to Chesterfield in 1962, where they raised their family. He was active in several United Methodist Churches in the area, the most recent being Beulah Church. He supported his sons in their many activities and was very proud of their both being Eagle Scouts. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his great joy and he was always more than willing to tell anyone who would listen of their achievements. He was an avid golfer but also competitive in other sports like baseball, tennis, and basketball. His license plate was "BB-33," his number on the Gilmore High School basketball team. The Green Bay Packers and West Virginia Mountaineers got his greatest cheers and Bud always felt West Virginia was truly "almost heaven."
Bud was a people person and never met a stranger. When he walked down the street, the people he passed were smiling because he always made sure to greet them, and usually made a comment that lifted their spirits.
