Laurie Goodwyn Fields, 63, of Chester, VA, died November 29, 2025. Born and raised in Chester, VA, she was the daughter of Barbara Goodwyn and the late William Goodwyn, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Lynwood Earl Fields, Jr.; daughter, Logan Fields; son, Lucas Fields; three sisters, Traci Jones, Ginni Goodwyn, and Betsy Baker; two nieces, Caroline Tatum and Annie Korkowski; and nephew, Zak Goodwyn.
Laurie was an incredibly gentle and warm person, a comforting presence for those that knew her. Beloved by her family, friends, preschool students, and pets, her smile offered a kindness that was profoundly authentic and pure. While she often put others' needs before her own, she took great pleasure in the simple things of life: the first cup of coffee in the morning, sitting outside, listening to birdsong, smelling the flowers, feeling the sun on her face, and relaxing with a good book in the evening. She cherished her family, her pets, and the beautiful home she shared with her husband. Her genuine thoughtfulness, patience, and grace will be deeply missed.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Visitors are welcome starting at 10:00 a.m. A horse drawn procession will follow at Sunset Memorial Park and will be open to the public. Fresh flowers are very welcome.
