Larry William Robertson

Feb 17, 1948 — Oct 19, 2026

Heaven just got a little bit brighter with the passing of Larry William Robertson on the afternoon of October 19, 2026 in a local hospital. Larry's life was full. He had a personality that was contagious, and he never met a stranger. He had friends all over the world. Larry loved life and he enjoyed helping people (fixing a lawn mower, lending tools). He was born in Richmond on February 17, 1948. He married Kay Robinson Robertson on October 23, 1971 at Lakeside United Methodist Church on a rainy night. Their 55th wedding anniversary would have been this Friday.

Larry's professional career was as an electrician. He entered the Richmond Apprenticeship Program in 1972 and graduated in 1976 with a perfect attendance record. He passed the OSHA test for licensing of a journeyman electrician on his first try. He had a brilliant mind.

Larry collected many things, mainly 1955 Ford trucks. He loved going to truck shows, especially Pigeon Forge each May. Picking up parts and seeing his truck buddies was the ultimate vacation. None of the trucks were ever completed, but he had such beautiful visions of their colors and interior.

And collecting antiques was another obsession. He would not buy just one of something. In his mind, two were always better. Bringing home two milk cans (one copper and the other brass) from London's Portobello Road in Notting Hill was a challenge. Larry would always figure out a way.

He loved food -- that is probably why we cruised so much. We cruised on our honeymoon, and that was just the beginning. Our adventures took us all over the world. He spread joy to all he met.

As you journey through life, make it a little better for all those around you. Be kind to your neighbors, fill your family get-togethers with love and understanding, give to those who are less fortunate. "Heartbreak is important - it reminds us how much our beloved means to us." Never lose the joy life brings.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. this Friday, October 23 at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 2333 Hilliard Road, Henrico. If you plan to attend the "celebration of life" for this amazing man, wear bright colors. He loved color.

Written by his wife, Kay, who loved this man with all her heart.
