Kay Frances Pritchett Survello was born in her beloved city of Petersburg, VA on August 23, 1942. The Lord called her home on April 25, 2026. She was born to Wesley Woodrow Pritchett and Dorothy Duke Pritchett Van Fossen. She was blessed with four wonderful sons, Paul Michael Survello, John Scott Survello, Patrick Keith Survello, and Mark Wesley Survello; grandchildren, Ashlea Marie Survello, Alayna Marie Survello, Katie Lynn Survello, Sarah Caroline Survello, Kizmit Bleau Survello, Andrew Michael Survello, and Matthew James Wilson; and great-grandson, Tyler Wilson.
Kay's life was shared with her twin sister, Fay Francine Pritchett Godwin, and Joan Elizabeth Pritchett Foster. She also had a half-brother, Tony Arthur Pritchett, and half-sister, Mary Michele Pritchett. Kay was fortunate enough to work at Fort Lee, Virginia as an International Military Student Specialist, meeting individuals and their families from over 125 different countries, receiving multiple awards for Civilian Service in 1988. She ended her federal government tenure with the National Park Service at Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Ft. Raleigh Headquarters as Secretary for Director of Interpretation and Visitor Services on the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina that she dearly loved. She completed her employment days with Chesterfield County, Department of General Services, Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Division.
During her lifetime, Kay enjoyed bird watching, cooking special dishes for her sons (especially Old Towne pound cakes at Christmas), playing the piano, gardening, time with her different pets, yard sales and thrift shops, and visits to Manteo-Outer Banks, but the best time for her was having family gatherings. In the 1960s and early 1970s, she won multiple ribbons for baking cakes, breads, and cookies at the Southside Virginia Fair. She also co-authored "Cooking Memories" with her twin sister, Fay Godwin, wrote and published several poems and articles, and authored "Petersburg, Remembering", and "The History of Our Family" for her family and friends. The Lord blessed Kay throughout her life and was her strength and salvation in all situations and events. Thank You, Lord.
A graveside service in the Lee Ward section of the beautiful Old Blandford Cemetery will be held at 2pm on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Services will be conducted by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
