Kathryn Mills Vaughan

Kathryn Mills “Kitty” Vaughan, 82, of Dinwiddie County, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013. Born in Jackson, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Patie McDaniel Mills. She was also preceded in death by four brothers. Kitty was a member of Ocran United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and a former volunteer for the American Red Cross. She was a devoted Ruritan and a former Zone 4 Governor. She is survived by her husband of 64 ½ years, John Calvin Vaughan; two brothers, Joe F. Mills and wife, Mae, and Robert L. Mills and wife Shelby; daughter, Patricia Kay Lasher and husband, John of Virginia Beach; son Bruce F. Vaughan and wife, Jennifer also of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Kathy Hersh, Jay Haugh, and John Vaughan, seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16th at Ocran United Methodist Church with The Reverend Larry House officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Ocran United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 309, Sutherland, VA 23885.
