Kathleen Kessler Leighton

Kathleen Kessler Leighton, 103, of Hopewell passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014. She was the daughter of the late James M. and Mamie Cook Kessler and was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel H. Leighton; grandson, Bryan Henry; three brothers; two sisters. Kathleen attended First Baptist Church and loved reading her bible, listening to sermons on the radio and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Wood, Shirley Fratto and her husband, Carmen, Ernestine Leighton, Darlene Henry; son, Michael S. Leighton and his wife, Rita; grandchildren, Cindy and her husband, Johnny, Jackie and her husband, Rusty, Judy and her husband, Todd, Terry and her husband, Chris, Katie and her husband, Hurley; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; her three special beloved dogs, Jesse, Molly, Daisy; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Visitation will follow the service until 4:00 p.m. Interment will be in Grace Lawn Memorial Cemetery in New Castle, Delaware on Monday, April 7, 2014.
