After a life-long battle with many illnesses and pain, Katherine Kerrie Pecht-Wilson, 37, died at her home in South Hill on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. She is now in heaven with her beloved grandparents, Lelia and Christian Levet and Malvin and Jacquelin Pecht. Kerrie was born on January 29, 1976 in Fredericksburg, VA, and graduated from Colonial Heights High School in 1994. She earned her R.N. degree from Southside Regional School of Nursing in Petersburg, and had been employed as a Registered Nurse at Community Memorial Health Care Center in South Hill until she became disabled in 2009. Kerrie leaves behind her grieving parents, Donna and Sidney Pecht of Sutherland, VA.; a sister, Melanie Welch and husband, “Rusty” of Church Road; as well as her nephew, Owen Welch; a niece, Avery Ireland Welch; and her beloved fiancée, Michael King of South Hill, who stood by her and helped care for her for the last few years of her life. In addition, she is survived by her aunts Betty Shell and husband, Roger “Butch” of Dewitt; Susan Ormand and husband, Paul of Chester, and Christine Levet Gerbel and husband, Jack of California; a great-aunt, Juanita Surdam of Richmond; and many cousins, especially Jonathan Roberts of Lawrenceville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jacob Sahms, of Blandford United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Merchant’s Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George, VA. Rest in peace sweet Kerrie. You will be forever in our hearts and we will be missing you until the day we can all be together again.
