Joyce S. Kuhl

Joyce S. Kuhl, 94 years old, of Chester, VA, passed away on June 22, 2026. Born and raised in Hopewell, VA, she was the daughter of Lola and James Sims.

She is survived by son, Alan Warren (Lorrie); sister, Connie Emerson (Ken); niece and loving caregiver, Krystal Norris (Timothy) and her children Jordan (Jessica), Kaleigh (Cam), Kassidy; 2 grandchildren Amber (Jazz) and Kent (Amy); sister-in-law, Audrey Gregory; and several loving nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lola Gregory; husband, William Kuhl; son, Ron Warren; sister, Barbara Abernathy; and brother, Gilbert Gregory.

Joyce was an active member of West Hopewell Presbyterian Church for many years and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the American Legion Auxiliary. Joyce was a hard and energetic worker her entire life and was extremely proud of the work she did in founding Commonwealth Escrow and Title Services. This was the first home settlement company of its kind in the area, which she owned and operated successfully for over 40 years.

A funeral service for Joyce will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Bill James officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Feed More, the Richmond area food bank.
