Joyce Anne Dillard Branzelle

Joyce Anne Dillard Branzelle, 77, of Matoaca, VA, peacefully passed away on December 28, 2025. Born and raised in Petersburg, VA, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Allen Branzelle; her parents, James and Virginia Dillard; brother, Robert "Bobby" Dillard; and sister, Martha Church.

Joyce was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She retired from the Chesterfield Planning Department in 2008, after 23 years of service. In her retirement, she enjoyed doing puzzles, coloring, watching games shows, and spending time with her son and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David "Davy" and Cheryl Cabaniss, of Petersburg; grandchildren, Tyler Shafer (Katelyn), of Midlothian, David "Trey" Cabaniss III (Emily), of Dinwiddie, Joshua Cabaniss, of North Carolina, Jessica Lampman (Jason), of Prince George, Jonathan Cabaniss (Bethany), of Chester, Kaitlyn Cabaniss, of South Hill, and Emily Cabaniss, of Petersburg; numerous great-grandchildren; her brother, Sonny Dillard (Margaret), of Florida; her canine companion, Sophie; as well as extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 11:00am, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park in Petersburg, VA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or your local animal shelter.
