Joseph Lopes Camacho, 83, of Prince George, VA, peacefully departed this life on August 20, 2025, at home, surrounded by his cherished family. Born in the Bronx, NY, and raised in Hudson, MA, he was the beloved son of the late Moises Camacho and Marie Beulieu. He is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 59 years, Margaret "Peggy" Camacho; his stepfather, Norman Beulieu; his brother, James Camacho; and his son-in-law, Kenneth Forster.
With an Engineering Degree from the Lowell Technical Institute, Joseph dedicated his career to account management and sales, working with respected companies like Firestone, Bridgestone, and Honeywell (formally Allied Chemical). After retirement, he and Peggy explored many destinations together and remained loyal members of St. Ann Catholic Church in Colonial Heights, VA. An enthusiastic host, he delighted in bringing family together around the dinner table to share a good meal and a glass of wine. Joseph also had an enduring passion for golf, actively participating in multiple golf groups in the area to include Ft. Lee and Brookwood. He will be remembered not only as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, but also as a truly compassionate Christian.
As we reflect on Joseph's life, the family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the overwhelming support and love shown during this challenging time. Those who will carry forward his memory include his children, Cheryl Anne Forster, Maria Camacho (Rick), Sean Camacho (Mary Beth), Cara Waters (Tim), and Catie Camacho (Missy); his grandchildren, Sean, Jeff (Samantha), Bradley, Tyler(Hannah), Elena, Meghan, and Natalie; along with his brother, Bobby (Lynn); and sister, Marianne Broderick (Jim).
The family will receive friends at 10 am, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at St. Ann Catholic Church, with a funeral Mass to follow at 11 am. Interment will follow the Mass in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, in memory of Joseph Camacho. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
