Jonathan Herring Lipchak

Jonathan Herring Lipchak, 42, of Chester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Born in Henrico, VA, on May 4, 1983, Jonathan was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Carroll Watts Herring; his paternal grandfather, Wesley M. Lipchak; and his paternal grandmother, Kathleen Burris Carty. Jonathan was a true Renaissance man. He was curious and creative, and passionate about his wide and varying intellectual pursuits. Whether he was building circuits or crafting with wood, he elevated the intellectual into the beautiful with his artistry and commitment to perfection. Nothing was intimidating to him; he had complete confidence in his ability to work through any calculation or idea or puzzle. He was a sensitive, gifted musician who could casually write a song that would break your heart. All of this he did with his family in mind, always with an eye to what he could teach or share with his sons. He was a unique light and gift to all those who truly knew him. Jonathan is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Lauren Ashley Lipchak; two children, Wesley Miller Lipchak and Owen Moss Lipchak; his parents, David and Rebecca Lipchak; his maternal grandmother, Peggy Hensley Herring; one sister, Susannah Burris Lipchak; his father-in-law, Gary Miller and wife, Carol; his mother-in-law, Susan Miller; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Moriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
