With heavy hearts sustained by God's grace, we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin, Jonathan Craig Harrison, who entered eternal peace with Jesus on April 20, 2026 at the age of 42.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry Clay, Jr. and Mary Clay; his brother, Lee; his nephew, Brennan; and his cousin, Emily.
He leaves behind his mother, Susan Little; his stepfather, Chuck Little; his sister, Marianne Barnett (Mike); his brother, Daniel Wingler (Brittany); his sister-in-law, Leann Harrison; his stepsisters, Jennifer Hollis and Elizabeth Little; and his stepbrother, Joel Little (Britney). He is also survived by beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who were like family.
Jonathan was born on January 15, 1984 and was dearly loved and cherished. He was truly a gift to everyone who knew him. His name, Jonathan, means "given of God," and that's exactly who he was. You didn't have to be around him long to see it. He had a way of bringing a quiet kind of joy that stayed with you.
Jonathan lived with Down syndrome, but that never defined him. What defined him was how he lived, with a full heart, a steady spirit, and a simple, genuine happiness. He didn't complain - not about the big things, not about the small things. He just took life as it came and found joy in it.
He loved the things that made him happy: Cookout chocolate milkshakes, watching cartoons, enjoying Hallmark and Bible movies, playing UNO, going to visit Sight and Sound, twirling ribbon, and keeping his baby stuffed animals close.
Jonathan was deeply committed to his faith in Christ as Savior, and he loved going to church. He looked forward to it all week long and it wasn't something he had to be reminded about. It was something he was ready for. His clothes were laid out the night before, so he was prepared and always looked his best. He would always have his offering of one-dollar bills prepared long before service even began, excited and ready to give, and if there were two services in a day, he had two envelopes prepared. His faith and consistency spoke in ways that words cannot.
He also loved music, especially the old hymns. "Amazing Grace" and "It Is Well With My Soul" were the two most popular. Whatever song he was listening to became a favorite. These weren't just songs he liked. They were genuinely a part of who he was. There was a quiet peace in him that matched those songs, especially when he was faced with personal illness and grief. Jonathan didn't live a loud life, but he lived a meaningful one. He showed, in the simplest ways, what it looks like to be content, to be faithful, and to love without limits where everyone was his favorite.
He will be deeply missed by his family and by anyone who had the opportunity to know him. There's an emptiness left behind that only God can fill, because people like Jonathan don't come around often. But there's also comfort in knowing this: his life was full, his joy was real, and he was exactly who God made him to be: a true gift from God.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 24 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 25 at 10 AM at Trinity Community Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery after.
