John Warf

John Edward Warf, 95, of Carson, widower of Eunice Mae Wells Warf, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011. Born in Rocky Mount, NC, he was the son of the late Claude Swanson and Harrietta Elliott Warf. In addition, he was preceded in death by a sister, Meda Elizabeth Spiers and a brother, Louis Warf. Mr. Warf spent most of his life in the Carson area. He worked hard his entire life to provide for his family. Throughout his life he farmed and also worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years until his retirement. Mr. Warf is survived by his son, Allen Swanson Warf of Carson; grandchildren, Allen H. Varnier of Chesterfield, Courtney Warf Massengill and husband, Kevin of Sutherland, and Christian Jon Warf and wife, Ashlynn of Colonial Heights; great-grandchildren, Colby Grayson Massengill and William Chase Massengill; brothers, Thomas Warf and Claude S. Warf, Jr.; sisters, Margaret Warf Gilliam and Annie Lee Wills. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 15th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Rowanta Methodist Church Cemetery, Carson.
