John Edward "Stumpy" Sears

John Edward “Stumpy” Sears, 64, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013. Born in Hopewell, Virginia, he was the son of the late Willie and Josephine Wray Sears. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann Riddick Sears; and sister, Rebecca Brooks. Stumpy is survived by his brother, Willie Sears, Sr. and wife, Hazel; sister, Barbara Pearson and husband, George; sister, Ruby Edwards and husband, Otis; and brother, Charlie Sears and wife, Lana; two step-children, Nancy Wright and fiancé, Rob, and James Tanner; grandchildren, Kenneth Wright and Joshua Bennett; brother-in-law, Charles Brooks; and numerous nieces, nephews, church family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church, 17001 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
