John Roger Martin Sr.

John “Roger” Martin, Sr., 68, of Prince George, Virginia passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014. Born in Richmond, Virginia he was the son of the late John and Lillian Humphries Martin. John was a native of Hopewell and Prince George and retired from Stone Container after 23 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and friends, and was an inspiration to his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy Back Martin; sons, John R. Martin, Jr. and his former wife, Kimberly Livesay Bear, Chris Martin and his wife, Karen; grandchildren, Jonathan, Kaleigh, Morgan, Madison, Kelsey, Savanna, Lacey, Kyle, Berkeley, Christian; great-grandchilden, Brady, Dalen, Ava, Avery; sister, Julie Hopkins; nephew, Bobby Bridges; other nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July, 10, 2014, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va.
