John Paul Blankenship, 54, of Prince George, VA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2025. Born in Hopewell, Virginia, he was the son of Hershel and Christy Blankenship (stepmother); and Rebecca Blankenship (mother). He is survived by his two daughters, Macie Blankenship (Andrew) and Margaret Blankenship; sister, Paula Bridgers (George); as well as his stepsister, Sylvia Sanchez (Thomas); and half-brother, Justin Blankenship (Janel). John was also a loving uncle to his nieces, Rebekah Faison (Nick) and Hannah Stoupa (Zach); and nephews, Zack Sanchez (Heather) and Tomas Sanchez (Lily); and great-niece and nephews Presley, Brantley, and Knox.
John was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served 10 years in multiple locations to include Korea, Germany, and Iran. During his tenure in the military, John trained and earned the rank of Ranger, by completing the Ranger School certification program. John was always proud to have served his country.
John was a dedicated employee of Ashland, Inc. In Hopewell, where he worked for 25 years.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt. If he wasn't on the river or in a treestand, he was most likely cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide. John also loved to bowl, and was a long-time member of Appomattox River USBC. He has been recognized for rolling 3 perfect games.
We ask those attending John's Celebration of Life to dress casual, as he would love to see you.
