Joann Schuller Scanlon, 71, of Hopewell passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. Born in Petersburg, Va. she was the daughter of the late Milo M. and Virginia A. Robertson Schuller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Scanlon; sister, Betty Jean Schilling; nephew, Richard Mark Schilling. She moved to Pittsburg, PA and graduated from Monessen High School in the class of 1960; moved back to Virginia in 1985 where she worked as a secretary for Primary Oil Company for 5 years and Goldschmidt for 12 years. Joann was an Administrative Assistant for the Crater Youth Commission for 11 years when she retired on April 1, 2014. She was a member of Hopewell Women of the Moose, Chapter 1180, the Red Hat Society, she loved collecting purses, shoes, and going to the beach, listening to classical music, throwing darts, dancing to the “Oldies”, loved her Steelers football team, her pets, enjoyed life to the fullest and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her niece, Dana Oblak and her husband, Thomas; dear friends, Walter and Sandra Denney; many other very close friends and co-workers. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery in Prince George, Va.
