Jeanette Dena Bublitz

Jan 26, 1934 — Aug 18, 2026

Jeanette Dena Bublitz, 92, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Hospice Savannah in Savannah, GA. Born in Bristow, Iowa on January 26, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Koert Schipper and Dena Schipper, and she was preceded in death by her two siblings, Johnny Schipper and Johanna Kielman. As she was a devout Christian, she anticipated being present with her Lord as her life on earth ended.

Jeanette graduated from high school and began working in the Butler County, Iowa, treasurer's office soon after. She also served as county treasurer there for a short period of time. She later served as the church and financial secretary for Kingsland Baptist Church in Richmond, VA, where she was also a devoted member for several decades. In addition to working at the church, she volunteered in other areas there, including directing the annual Vacation Bible School for many years. Jeanette also lived in Chester, Virginia, McKinney, TX, Nashville, TN, Cedarville, OH, and lastly, Savannah, GA, as she moved to be near her family later in life.

Gifted in hospitality and organization, Jeanette found joy in serving others and raising her children. She threw wonderful birthday parties for her children when they were young and lovely dinner parties for friends over the years. She also cared for her aging mother at her home in Chester, VA, for several years. Her family will remember her for her quick wit and her fun stories of growing up on the farm, especially the story of her pet pony, Nancy, walking home alone and stranding her at a friend's house. She lived near some of her grandchildren during her golden years and enjoyed baking and having "arrangements" with them. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Bob, and enjoyed trips to the Holy Land, the California coast, and New Mexico to visit her son, Steven, and his family.

Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Franklin Bublitz (2020), Jeanette and Robert were married for almost 60 years. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jeanette was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son, Steven Duane Bublitz, and wife, Sherri; daughter, Faye Denise Hodgin, and husband, Scott; five grandchildren, Lotti Bublitz; Kayla Blythe and husband, Austin; Nathaniel Bublitz; Christopher Hodgin and fiancée, Maggie Sweet; Courtney Kennedy and husband, James; and great-grandchildren, Griffin Blythe, Noah Blythe, and soon-to-be baby Blythe; and cousins, several nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home (3050 W Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23831) at 1:00pm EST on Friday, September 11, 2026 with Rev. Pat Fiordelise officiating. Visitation will begin an hour prior at 12:00pm. The 1:00pm funeral service will be live streamed on Mrs. Jeanette Bublitz's obituary page at www.jtmorriss.com. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Chester.
