James Edward Williams

James Edward Williams, 73, of Hopewell, VA, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025. James was the son of the late Nolan and Tillie Williams, and was also preceded in death by his brother, Rives Williams.

James attended Hopewell High School and then went on to work as a machine operator at Philip Morris for 30 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a fan of the Washington Commanders football team. He also loved spending time with his brothers and family and was always generous in helping others.

James is survived by his son, Jamison Williams, of CA; brothers, Jerry Williams (Ann), Lawrence "Duke" Williams (Gayle), and Richard Williams, all of Hopewell, VA; sister-in-law, Christine Williams, of GA; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as dear family friend, Sam Cochran.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church in Hopewell, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. A reception will be held following the service in the church fellowship hall. All are welcome. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodlawn Presbyterian Church.
