Retired Army Sergeant First Class James Everett Will, 90, of Hopewell passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014. Everett was born February 12, 1924, in Quicksburg, VA. to the late Charles M. and Edna Scothern Will. His family owned and operated a peach and cherry orchard in the Shenandoah Valley. In addition to his parents, Everett was preceded in death by brothers, Lawrence DeCosta Will, Charles Miller Will Jr., and Harry Lee Will, and sister, Nora Helen Will.
Jim, as he was known outside the family, was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Following his 22 years in the military, he settled in the Hopewell area and embarked on a second career with Sears Roebuck. He was a longtime active congregant of Memorial Chapel at Fort Lee.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Norma C. Will; daughters, Cynthia W. Moore (Daniel G. Moore), and Denise W. Bass (Samuel M. Bass); sons, Gregory E. Will (Sharon B. Will), and Eric J. Will (Stephanie L. Will); three granddaughters, three grandsons, and one great-granddaughter; sister, Maxine W. Orebaugh; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 in Merchant Hope Memorial Gardens, 11302 Merchant Hope Rd., Prince George, VA.
