James "Jimbo" Raymond Lupori, Jr.

James "Jimbo" Raymond Lupori, Jr., 83, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026. Born on August 22, 1942, in Madera, California, he was the son of James and Nora (Steiney) Lupori.

Jimbo grew up on the South Side of Pittsburgh and, by his own admission, often found himself in trouble as a young man. Faced with an ultimatum from his parents—reform school or the Army—he chose military service, a decision that would shape the rest of his life. The Army provided the discipline and purpose he needed, and he excelled in his career. He proudly served multiple combat tours in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star for his service. Over the course of 43 years in government service, both in the Army and in his civilian career, Jimbo had the opportunity to travel the world.

After the passing of his beloved wife, Judy, from cancer, Jimbo made his home in Lincoln, Nebraska. His greatest joy was his family, especially the time he spent with his grandchildren. He was a devoted member of St. Peter Catholic Church and took great pride in supporting his grandson's Scouting activities. At Savannah Pines, where he became affectionately known as the "King of Savannah Pines," Jimbo built lasting friendships and brought smiles to those around him. He cherished his years there until he, too, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer that spanned nearly 20 years.

He will be deeply missed for his outgoing personality, warm charisma, and unwavering devotion to his faith, his church, friends, and his family. His kindness, strength, and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished always.

Jimbo is survived by his son, Chuck (Jeanette) Lupori of Lincoln, NE; their children, CJ (Alex) Lupori, Lincoln, NE, Katie (PK) Duncan, Lincoln, NE, Jacob Lupori, Joseph Lupori, Madalynne Lupori, and Noah Lupori; son, Anthony (Valerie) Lupori of Three Rivers, MI; stepdaughter, Lori Reed of Hopewell, VA; her children, Christoper (Kaylee) Acevedo, Charles City, VA, Brandon Acevedo, Hopewell, VA, and Amanda Barnette, Hopewell, VA; granddaughter, Madison (Cody) Duncan, Dinwiddie, VA; siblings, Max (Pat) Lupori, Pittsburgh, PA, and Debbie Lupori, Pittsburgh, PA; along with 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Lupori, and his son, John Lupori.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens in Hopewell, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peter Catholic Church and School, 4500 Duxhall Drive, Lincoln, Nebraska 68516. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
