Jacquelyn McDonald Bentzoni

Jacquelyn "Jackie" Nathalie McDonald Bentzoni, 92, passed away on June 1, 2026.
Born and raised in Hopewell, Virginia, Jackie spent the last 13 years in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, where she enjoyed the coastal life and the closeness of family.

She was the daughter of the late Ben and Ellen McDonald. Jackie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lewis Bentzoni, Jr., her daughter Debra Bentzoni West, and several siblings.

Jackie is survived by her son, Lewis Bentzoni III (Caren); grandchildren, Melissa Hosey (Chris), Cindy Belcher (Paul), Tanda Estep (Brian), Heather Webster (Jeremiah), and Kyle Bentzoni (Alyssa); great‑grandchildren, Cameron Stephens, Sabrina Pettit (Tyler), Shelly Estep, David Estep, Roxanne Hosey, Isaac Webster, Rebekah Webster, Adrianna Webster, Alex Bentzoni, Aubree Bentzoni, and Colton Webster; and great‑great‑grandchild, Poppy Pettit. She is also survived by her sisters, Faye Westfall and Allene Harris, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished her.

Although Jackie had never been much of an animal lover, that changed when she moved in with Cindy and Paul and quickly fell in love with their dogs. She even convinced them to get a Great Pyrenees puppy - the dog they named Gilly. Jackie and Gilly formed an immediate and special bond. Gilly brought her daily joy, comfort, and companionship, and remained faithfully by her side until the day she had to move into the nursing home.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to the staff at NHC Garden City and Caris Hospice, where Jacquelyn received excellent and compassionate care. Extra thanks are extended to Whitney, Cara, Michael, Amy and Quella for loving her and treating her as if she were their own family.

Jacquelyn's life was defined by devotion-to her family, her faith, and the people she cared for. She will be remembered with deep love and lasting gratitude.
