Jacqueline Cherry Smith

Jacqueline Cherry Smith, 91, of Hopewell, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on February 11, 2026. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late John and Katherine Cherry. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Herbert C. Smith, Sr.; her sons, Ronald W. Smith and Richard J. Smith. She is survived by her sisters, Betty and Susan; sons, Herbert C. Smith, Jr. (Diane) and Timothy E. Smith; and daughter-in-law, Kathryn Smith; grandchildren, Andy Smith (Raquel), Brad Smith (Jessica), Amanda Smith-Walker (Joshua), and Michael Smith; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and other family and friends.

Jackie was a member of Powers Memorial Baptist Church, where she served in many ministries. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping and fishing at Lake Gaston and Nags Head, N.C. Jackie's passions were craft projects and sewing. She was employed as a Hopewell School bus driver for 35 years and also worked in the Hopewell School cafeterias. In her later years she enjoyed fellowship with her friends at Hardee's in Hopewell.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 4 pm until 5 pm, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with a Memorial Service to follow at 5 pm.
