Jackie D. Atkins

Jackie (Jack) Darrell Atkins, 78, of Hopewell, VA, passed away on Wednesday, November 30 after an extended illness. He was born May 16, 1934 in Amherstdale, WV. He was a Master Sergeant in the U.S Marine Corps and a retired Sergeant with the DC Metropolitan police department. Surviving him are his wife, Frances; his children: Darrell (Arlene) of Middletown, MD, Danny of Warrenton, VA, Gail (Ron) Malin of Fulton, MD, Shelley (Craig) Strosnider of Hopewell, and Dirk of Hopewell, VA; 8 grandchildren: Ashley (Justin) Palmer, Danny & Amanda Atkins, Mitchell & Michael Malin, Shana Smith, Marisa & Madison Strosnider, and 3 greatchildren: Kulen, Keelee and Kayson; 3 siblings: David (Mary) and Bob (Darlene) Atkins of OH, and Judy (Danny) Booth of NC; 4 sister-in-laws: Joyce Atkins, Betty Atkins, Ruth Tomblin, and Clara Browning, and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Darla (Dee) Smith; 2 brothers, Donald & Johnny; and grandson, Kyle Smith.
He will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery on March 12, 2012 at 1:00 pm.
