Iris Baillie Cameron Ragland

Surrounded by her loving family, and very peacefully, Iris Baillie Cameron Ragland, passed away on July 14, 2025, in Richmond, Virginia.

Iris was born on November 13, 1945, in Johnstone, Scotland, the daughter of the late Violet Baillie Cameron and James Cameron.

In 1964, Iris married Stuart Butler Ragland, in Scotland, and shortly thereafter she immigrated to the USA. Together they had three children, Julie-Anne, Stuart, and Scott.

First and foremost, Iris loved her family - all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her son-in-law, Kenny. Family was everything to Iris. Nothing made her happier than to have family visit. Iris loved to read and she loved to cook for her family.

Her other great loves were her little Jack Russell Terriers, who provided her with immense joy and companionship. One little dog in particular, Penny, had a very special place in her heart and was her constant beloved companion.

Iris loved to go to the Scottish Festivals when they came to Virginia. She would be able to get and taste once again some of the foods and cookies that she grew up with.

Iris will be sincerely missed by each and every one she knew and loved.

Left to treasure her memory, Iris is survived by her children: daughter, Julie-Anne Glenn (Kenny); son, Stuart Ragland; grandchildren, Tiffany, Tara, Christopher, Heather, Emmet, and Tracy; and great-grandchildren, Dashaun, Kamryn, Jayda, Adrianna, Tristan, and Kennedi.

Iris is also survived by her niece, Tracey; and nephews, Ian, David, and Stewart and their families; many loving cousins and their families at home and abroad, who sincerely loved Iris. Also several very good friends, especially Miss Cathy, Beverley, and Christine.

Along with her parents, Iris was predeceased by her husband, Stuart; her son, Scott; and her brother, Donny.

Iris's family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Lucy Corr, in Chesterfield, and in particular Andrea Ramsey and Paul Sprenkle, for their absolutely wonderful care of Iris over the past few months. Additionally, the family is sincerely grateful to the emergency room staff at Chippenham Hospital, in Richmond, for their excellent care, and in particular, RN Liz Endicott for her sincere devotion, care, and compassion in caring for Iris in her final days.

Iris's care has been entrusted to the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10:00 am, at the Petersburg Chapel, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am, with an interment to follow at Blandford Cemetery, in Petersburg.
