Inge Anneliesa Frankenstein

May 18, 1932 — March 20, 2026

Inge Anneliesa Frankenstein, 93, was born in Mannheim, Germany to the late Hans Karl Schmeiser and Erika Luise Hilpert. She traveled throughout her husband's military career until he retired to Hopewell, VA. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 36 years, Edward George Frankenstein; her son, Gregg Frankenstein; and her sisters, Margo Hildegard Feist and Ursala Hilpert.

Inge was an active soul, loving to dance and have fun at Oktoberfests. She enjoyed the fun of casinos with their cards and games. She was a proud member of many organizations, including the Moose Lodge, the American Legion, the Sacred Hearts Club, the Red Hat Club, the German Club, and the Bowling League. She loved to travel around and see sights with her friends be it at Old Town Petersburg or Lake Chesdin. She was the center of her family cook outs, watching all her young ones. Though she loved to play, she was no stranger to hard work. She was a beautician for over 60 years, and worked well into her 80s. She will be fondly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Karen Phillips, Joan Elder, and Edward Frankenstein (Karen); her grandchildren, James E. Phillips, Heidi C. Khataybeh, Angela M. MacDonald (Richard), Samantha Wilson (Kristin), Kyle G. Frankenstein (Stephanie), Shawn Frankenstein, Amber Hill, Lindsey Stryker (Brian); a host of beautiful beloved great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 1 PM. The family will visit with friends an hour prior. A committal service will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Inge's name to the Alzheimer's Association of America.
