Ila May Anglin, age 81, of Chester, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 7, 1944, Ila was a long-time, cherished resident of the Chester community on Gary Avenue. She absolutely loved life, living it to the fullest every single day. Beautiful inside and out, you could never get her to go anywhere without her hair perfectly done. She brought joy and vibrant energy to everyone around her, whether she was out on the dance floor, hanging out with friends playing cards, or sharing laughs with whoever joined her at the casino.
Ila had a massive heart and spent her life helping anyone she could. Her family and friends are heartbroken by her passing but deeply celebrate the incredible life she lived. They will forever miss her bright spirit, her endless generosity, and the famous, off-the-wall sayings she always had ready for any occasion.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Rose Smith; and her loving family members: Gloria, Samuel Keith, Juanita, Johnny, Mary, Ila May, and Billie. Her legacy also lives on through her 14 cherished grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a large circle of extended family, neighbors, and dear friends.
A service to honor and celebrate Ila's life will be held at 7:00pm on Monday, June 1, 2026 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, located at 3050 W. Hundred Rd. Ila will be laid to rest at a later date alongside her beloved husband, William "Bill" Anglin, in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
