Hugh Waverly Brown, Sr., 93, of Chester, VA passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026. Born in Buckingham County, VA he was the son of the late Clyde and Martha Taylor Brown; and was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Adcock Brown; two sisters, Margaret Bryant and Betty McFadden; and one brother, James Brown.
Mr. Brown is survived by his three sons, Waverly Brown, Jr. and wife, Libby, David N. Brown, and Scott Brown and wife, Trudy; grandchildren, Trey Brown and wife, Brittany, Loren Ochoa and husband, Andreas, D.J. Brown, and Cory Brown; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Brown, Silas Brown, Ellie Brown, Jeb Brown, Emmett Brown, Ainsley Ochoa, and Finn Ochoa; one sister, Dorothy Carter and husband, Gene; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Brown faithfully served his country in the United States Army and Marines during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he went to work for Allied Chemical and then went on to retire from the American General Insurance Company as a manager. Mr. Brown had a deep love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which was evident as he instilled his love for God in his sons and family. Mr. Brown was a longtime dedicated member of the Enon Church of God and helped build the current church and was a founding member of the Heritage Builders Ministry at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Enon Church of God in memory of Hugh Brown, Sr.
