Herman Ferrell, 84, of Dinwiddie, VA, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025. Born in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Allen Ferrell and Bessie Cline Ferrell. He was also preceded in death by wife, Marcell "Kat" Ferrell; a son, Herman "June Bug" Ferrell, Jr.
Herman, growing up in West Virginia, found a way to take care of his siblings, working the coal mines and running moonshine. They were never short on their love for each other and memories created together.
He was a car enthusiast and one of the best backyard mechanics who kept all the families' cars running. He was a simple, hard-working man, that could be found in the back yard fixing something, or watching old westerns. He retired from Asplundh Tree Experts after 35 years of service.
He most enjoyed family gatherings, and talking for hours about the good ole days. He was a gentle, kind man that took great pride in his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He loved feeding them candy.
He is survived by his children, Campbell Ferrell (Teresa), Jacqueline F. Eanes (Gus), Timothy Ferrell, and Rhonda F. Hood (Kenny); eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; and by his siblings, Diana Crockett and Carl Ferrell (Drema).
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 1:00pm, at Southlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105; or Toys for Tots.
