Henry Sterling Brigstock, Jr., 94 died Saturday, January 9, 2016. He was born in Reames, Virginia to Mabel Duane and Henry Sterling Brigstock.
He was in Management and Sales with AXA/Equitable Life Assurance Society for 36 years, and continued to work until he was 90. He was a strong supporter of community involvement and has served as president of the following organizations: Petersburg Chamber of Commerce; Petersburg Lions Club; Southside area Red Cross Board; Petersburg Symphony Orchestra Board; Petersburg Optimist’s Club; Battlefield Park Swim Club Board; Life Underwriter’s Assn.; Petersburg Methodist Home for Girls and St. Marks’s Preschool Board. He also served on the following boards: United Way; Salvation Army; Fort Lee Advisory Board; Fort Lee Quartermaster Museum Board; St. Mark’s United Methodist Church Administration Board; State LUPAC Board and VA. Life Underwriter’s Political Involvement Committee. He is a Charter Member of St Mark’s United Methodist Church and was currently serving as the President of the Preschool Board. Henry was a wonderful husband, father and community minded individual who felt serving his community was a privilege. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, Son and daughter-in-law, Hank and Kathy; daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Jay Ayers; Grandchildren, Vicki and Seth Humphreys, Monica and Mike Allen, Michelle and Sean Parr, Melissa and Frank Cajigas; six great-grandchildren, Alexa Rimmer, Veronica Humphreys, Ava and Dax Cajigas, Hope and Declan Parr; his step children, Eric and Genny Holterman and Gordon and Khrissy Holterman; niece and husband, Joan and Ronnie Walker. A memorial service will be held 12:00pm Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 225 Claremont St., Petersburg, VA.
