Helen Koumianos Plakas

Helen K. Plakas, 88, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Helen was born in Karpenissi, Greece to Ioyanios Koumianos and Maria Koumianos. She was preceded in death by her loving husband; Andrew Plakas.

Helen was Co-Owner of A&B restaurant in Petersburg, Va with her husband Andrew for many years.

Helen is survived by her sons, Pete Plakas and Lucky Plakas; daughter-in-law, Connie; her grandchildren, Nick Plakas, and Alexa Plakas; sisters, Kathy Melis, and Vula Halvge; and a brother, George Koumianos and sister-in-law, Rula.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home - Hopewell Chapel.

A funeral service for Helen will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 23, 2026, at St. Elpis Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blandford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in honor of Helen be made to St. Elpis Greek Orthodox Church. Condolences can be registered online at jtmorriss.com.
