Helen Worland Jones

Helen Worland Jones, 92. Heaven gained a special angel today. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family, June 4, 2013. She was born in Newport News, VA; the daughter of Paskel and Irene Worland, and stepdaughter of Edith Worland. Preceded in death by her husband, Cabell “Kilowatt” Jones. They were lifelong residents of Chester and longtime members of Chester United Methodist Church. She is survived by three loving and faithful daughters, Patricia Jones, Debbie Vaughan, and Fae Hardee, all of Chester; and a stepson, Carl Jones (Liza) of Richmond. Four grandchildren, Chris Hardee, Shaun Hardee (Ashley), Lauren Jones and Andy Jones; three great-grandchildren, Jorden, Kenston and Lila Hardee. She is also survived by her sister, Florence W. Wright; and her nephew, William D. Wright both of Tennessee. We would like to say a special thanks to caregivers, Judi Ryan, Martha Farmer and Dennis LaPrade. She will be most remembered as a loving mother and “Nana” to all, a dear friend, a wonderful cook, and a kind soul. She enjoyed travelling, her church family, playing games and being with her family. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Chester United Methodist Church. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Frances Allen Circle at Chester United Methodist Church, 12132 Percival Street, Chester, VA 23831.
