Helen Eleanor Johnson

Helen Eleanor Johnson, 83, of Colonial Heights, VA, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Born in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Louis Blank, Sr. and Mamie Bradshaw Blank; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Johnson, Jr.; one grandson, James Ryan Johnson; and four siblings, Samuel Blank, Louis Blank, Jr., Nick Blank, and Mamie Goddard. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School in Petersburg, VA. Mrs. Johnson had attended Destination Church, was a member of the Hopewell Moose Lodge, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 882 in Petersburg, VA. Mrs. Johnson will be remembered by her family as a loving and active mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her five children, Kimberly Jo Johnson-Curtis, Joe Jeffrey Johnson and wife, Sharon, Christine J. Grubbs, Valarie L. Johnson, and Sonny Dale Johnson; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and her fifth great-grandchild on the way. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bermuda Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Helen E. Johnson.
