Hedvig (Hedy) Theresia Turner, 88, of Prince George, widow of David Earl Turner, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012. Born in Budapest, Hungary, she was the daughter of the late Jeno Huth, a pianist, and Jenone Huth (born Erzsebet Finkelstein), a tailor. She had only one brother, Fredi, who died during WWII in 1944. After the war, Hedy moved to Germany, where she survived a serious automobile accident that left her disabled, yet she never stopped being energetic and optimistic about life. She eventually relocated to the USA where she became a citizen and met Dave. The two were married in Prince George on June 17, 1969. After living at 3304 Woodlawn Street in Hopewell for several years, the two later built a home on Courthouse Road in Prince George and later operated a farm on Walton Lake Road. Hedy worked at Bridgestone/Firestone for many years before retiring, and also volunteered at Fort Lee with the U.S. Army Logistics Center.
She is survived by three step-children, Cynthia Turner Perez of Jacksonville, Florida, Kenneth A. Turner of Herndon, Virginia, and Daniel E. Turner of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, as well as a niece, Katherine Nagymarosi and Katherine's Son, Kalman Nagymarosi, both of Budapest, Hungary. The family will be receiving visitors from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Thursday November 29 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. She will be interred at Quantico National Cemetery at a later date. No graveside services are planned. Condolences may be registered at
