Gwendolyn Shelby Taylor Ellis

Gwendolyn Shelby Taylor "Winkie", 79, of Hopewell, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. She is preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Haley Stinnett; father, Humbert "Al" Colosimo; sisters, Janice Taylor and Vicky Matzganis; husband, Larry Dale "Peanut" Ellis; and son, Matthew Dale Ellis.

Gwen was born on January 18, 1945, in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was a homemaker, mother, and she cared for many children across many decades. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to yard sales, taking care of her animals, and her family.

She is survived by her loving kids; sons, Lawrence Melton, Mark Ellis and his wife, Shannon, Britton Ellis and his wife, Alexandra; daughters, Angela Crouse and husband, Ira, and Carla McCall; sisters, Georgia Rogers and Debbie Colosimo Hormel; brothers, Teddy Matzganis and George Matzganis; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; beloved dog, Buffy; beloved cat, Fancy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the family's residence, 3413 Ivor Street Hopewell, VA, 23860.
