Gordon Earl Vaughan, Jr.

Gordon Earl Vaughan, Jr., 79, of Petersburg, VA, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Vaughan, Sr., and Loraine Vaughan; son, Gordon Earl "Bubba" Vaughan; and sisters, Jackie Vaughan Crewely and Linda Vaughan Connor.

Gordon worked as a supervisor for Smurfitt Stone in Hopewell for 45 years. He loved fishing, hunting, crabbing, being on the river, and most of all, he loved his family. He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Irma G. Vaughan; daughter, Wendi Vaughan Dubovsky (Donnie); grandchildren, Cory Roda, Savana Lumpkin (Hunter), Damian Vaughan, and Sarah Vaughan; great-grandchildren, Lincoln Vaughan, Aden Vaughan, and Abigaile Owen; brother, EC Vaughan (Wendy); as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Special thanks to the nurses at Gentiva Hospice for their care, as well as sister-in-law, Diane Wall. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the funeral home. Interment at Southlawn Memorial Park will follow the funeral service.
