Gloria Clark Andrs

Gloria Clark Andrs, 92, of Chester, VA, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. Gloria graduated from Hopewell High School in 1951, and then Richmond Professional Institute (VCU) in 1955 with a BS degree in music. She taught piano for many years and enjoyed the students who came for lessons. She loved to accompany musicals at Richmond Professional Institute (VCU), Fort Lee, and in Hopewell. She played for many church choirs, and was the pianist at First Baptist Church in Hopewell for 49 years.

Gloria married her husband, Jerry, in 1956. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years; as well as her parents, Percy and Edna Clark. She is survived by her four children, Dean, Allen (Kristin), Brenda (Ronnie), and Clark (Amanda); sister, Viola Clark, of Virginia Beach; grandson, Austin (Destiny); several grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Gloria joined First Baptist Church at the age of six (1939) and played for her Sunday School class when she was seven years old. She also served as an interim organist at many churches in the area. She served on many committees at First Baptist Church, but especially loved the work she and her husband did with the youth members.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Hopewell.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Music Fund, in Gloria's honor.
